As a young girl growing up, she was the only 8yrs old playing ping pong in her neighborhood with and against boys and men outdoors at a community Table Tennis pay to play spot.
She got inspired to play basketball by watching her late cousin play from her balcony and dribbled the ball after his practice at home. A then teammate invited her to come and practice with the team for the 1st time, she took permission and went on the basketball court for the first time. This practice changed the trajectory of my life and allowed me to see the World and meet people from all works of life.
In 1988 there were no prof. basketball female role models besides Elephant Girls and hakeem Olajuwon that is read/seen on tv every now and again.
As the first Nigerian-born woman to play in the WNBA, and 17yrs pro career, she became that role model and passed the baton to the next generation of talented young women and men.
As the General manager that led D’Tigress to its most successful record in any World stage by an African team, she learnt serving the team from top to bottom was the key.
Our Mission is to engage our youth positively through education, sports, cultural activities, and quality mentorship to guide them in realizing their full potential to be the best leaders they can be, one kid, one Court and one community at a time.
While fostering a safe community so families can come together to support their kids and enjoy a safe neighborhood as well as we did.
